Monday 15 January, 7.30am - St James

A narrow escape for us (our back window was open): This male burglar climbed over front wall of 16 Main Rd & as he was entering the back of our property (no 18) over a very high wall was spotted by my housemate. She shouted at him, so he diverted into the back garden of no 20. We alerted the neighbour to lock her rear doors, at which point he passed a terrified maid & climbed over their wall.  While Chubb was searching for him, he went to a house in Braemar Rd, & stole a handbag & money from the maid's quarter's there. He had also accessed another home (cnr Main / Braemer) over a wall, entered their garage & tampered with their vehicles. These pics were taken as he exited Braemar Rd (he tried to hide his face), before Chubb could apprehend him. His clothes are easy to spot - note his cream cap with unusual red pattern, wearing a necklace/chain, T-shirt with skull & crossbones, unusual colour jacket, takkies...

Walking my dog down Harris Rd before a cycle race I heard an alarm go off.   A girl (pictured above) jumped over the wall of No 6 Harris Rd in front of me. I took her to the owner - John Zeederberg. She said that she had come to drink some water. The tap is at the front of the house and she set the alarm off down one side of the house. Two boys in their late teens were waiting for her on the pavement a few houses down. I can't say for sure but from their description these boys are Nazier and Ricardo Slammie.(Both fairly tall, but one taller, of light complexion and sharp features) They are out on bail for a number of theft related incidents and are strongly suspected to be responsible for the latest crime wave in Kalk Bay. I will try to get photos of these kids too.

Postal Thief - name Rudewaan
Goes through post and steals items out of post boxes - probably not of sound mind however this is a regular and ongoing problem with this guy!

Above is a pic of "Brian", and who comes to our house regularly with sob stories e.g. first time (about18 months ago), on a Friday afternoon, he told he was part of a group of workers who had done some work at our house that day (there had been a big group of workers doing painting, paving etc), and that the foreman had left him behind.

I duly gave him about R60 which he was going to repay the following Monday, only to learn that the companies doing the work at our house, had no Brian! Didn't see him for quite a while after that - over a year.

However, he has subsequently been back a few times recently - told my husband a couple of weeks ago that he had painted over the graffiti on our neighbours' wall (Mike Walker) who had gone out and not paid him - this was untrue.

Yesterday he came back to say that he was working down the road, and the bakkie left without him so he needed train fare etc. So we decided to take his photograph and told him that we recognise him - to which he replied that he would pay the money back, so he obviously remembers the original incident when I gave him money

This guy answers to the name of Donovan, he is definitely not the sharpest tool in the box, but I would hesitate to call him a nutter. He's always been more of a nuisance than a menace in my books. My wife once offered to let him wash our car and he turned up religiously once a week after that to repeat the cursory scrubbing, sometimes bearing rudimentary washing equipment, but most of the time needing to be supplied with the tools to do the job.

He is definitely harmless, I'm not aware of him ever knicking anything from anyone.
